Markham Music Festival 2013
Festival Date: March 22 – April 7, 2013
Since 1994, Euromusic Centre has been working closely with dedicated teachers and music authorities such as the Royal Conservatory of Music to build a positive and stimulating environment for young talented musicians to further hone and develop their performance skills. Our Annual Markham Music Festival, which now attracts more than 700 skilled pianists yearly from across all regions to compete, truly demonstrates our school’s vision and commitment in nurturing and recognizing young musical talents in piano studies.
This great musical event not only broadens the horizon of a group of talented young musicians on the music scene, but also gives them invaluable experience in music performance and appreciation through the play of fellow competitors.
We are very grateful to have the presence of a fine group of renowned and experienced RCM adjudicators every year as our event’s judges to make the competition fair and honourable. This year we are honoured to have Karen Quinton, Kui Min and Peteris Zarins on our adjudicating panel. Their experiences and broad views in music performance will certainly bring a wealth of insight and appreciation of music to all contestants of this festival.
Through these years of dedication in musical development in our community, our school’s very own Markham Music Festival has become one of the most celebrated and anticipated piano competition events in Ontario. Needless to say, the festival owes its success to the countless hours of volunteering work from our own music students, the dedication and contribution of our staff, the unfailing support of all teachers and parents, the donation support from sponsors and individuals, and most of all the enthusiastic participation of all contestants.
The Markham Music Festival blends well with our school’s mission of nurturing musical talents, and we believe at the end of the competition all contestants have benefited greatly from their on-stage experience and attained a much better appreciation of music. Application for the festival begins in October every year. Application forms can be obtained free at our office or downloaded from our website. Deadline is early February.
